Health Care Discount Plans ... How to Check Them Out

Health Care Discount Plan
Discount health plan. No age limit.
Pre-existing problems accepted.
$39.95/month per household.

Health care discount plans seem to be the route more and more people are taking in their search for a solution to affordable health care.

Health care discount plans are fee-for-discount agreements. That means you pay an annual or monthly fee in return for discounts on your dental, vision, medical care and prescription services from participating doctors or other providers.

A health discount plan is one of the best ways I know to reduce your health care expenses. However, there are some precautions you should take before signing up for a program.

Don't purchase a plan over the telephone or Internet without reading the actual agreement. And don’t give credit card or checking account information until you're satisfied that you're getting what you're paying for. Click here for more tips on how to determine if a company is legitimate.

How do you determine if a company will deliver on its promises? First, read the agreement to see what is actually offered. And remember, asking questions about how the plan works is no substitute for reading the agreement yourself.

If the company refuses to provide you with a copy of the agreement to review first, you should shop for another company. While you’re reading, check out the section that states the estimated discount amounts.

If the plan says that you can save up to 90%, look for the minimum amount you will save, also. Don't assume that you will save 90% on every procedure, because that's not going to happen.

Ask to see a list of providers (doctors, dentists, etc.) in your area. Check with several of them to be sure that they are actual participants.

Remember, health care and dental discount plans are not insurance and are not regulated by state regulatory agencies, so do your due diligence in checking them out. For help in check out a discount plan and what should look for in a good discount plan, click here.

I researched more than 30 plans, I found one company that offers a plan that satisfies my perception of what a "good" discount health plan should include.

This plan includes health, dental, vision, pharmacy and chiropractic for about $39 a month per household. It's a very reputable company with a great track record (I checked out their rating with the Better Business Bureau). They've been in business about 15 years.
